STATE SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENTS
Every state government (and most of the U.S. territories) has a special education department. This is the place to go to get information on:
- How your state handles special education matters
- Special Education programs within the state
- How federal money is spent on special education
- Resources for Parents, Teachers, and Administrators
- Due Process / Complaint procedures and forms
PRACTICAL TIP
REMEMBER these are STATE GOVERNMENT agencies and their websites. Since the state governments, specifically the state departments of education, control the school districts that may be the cause of your special education dispute, these websites are no substitute for seeking additional advice from an advocate or attorney to make sure you are getting all of the information you need.
