9th Circuit Arguments – Special Ed Cases

SchoolKidsLawyer had the opportunity to argue twice before the second highest court in the country, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.  [I also argued before the 3rd and 6th Circuits but they do not record their arguments.]

Below are the videos of those arguments:

June 15, 2018, Honolulu, Hawaii – J.M. v. Matayoshi and State of Hawaii Department of Education, Case No. 16-17327: Case involved HIDOE wanting to return a child with Autism to public school, when that child J.M. was severely bullied and physically assaulted by non-native children and fearful about returning to the public school environment.

June 10, 2019, Honolulu, Hawaii – J.G. v. State of Hawaii Department of Education, Case No. 18-16538: Case involved HIDOE wanting to return a child with low-functioning Autism to public school, when that child could not function in that environment and was doing very well at a private school for Autism.
